The Faculty of English, University of Cambridge, is an international centre of excellence for the study, teaching and research in literature and literary criticism.
The first English Tripos exams were sat in 1919, and the Faculty itself was founded in 1926. Since then, it has been home to some of the most eminent critics, scholars, teachers and writers of English literature in the world. Many of its lecturers have won prestigious prizes for their work, and the Faculty is consistently ranked among the very best internationally for the study of English literature.
