The Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics and Trinity Hall are establishing a studentship in memory of Dr Isabelle McNeill.

Isabelle was a distinguished researcher of French film, former Chair of the Cambridge Film Festival, and recipient of a Cambridge University 2025 Pilkington Prize for teaching excellence. She played a formative role in shaping the MPhil in Film and Screen Studies. The Department of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics, together with Trinity Hall, seeks to establish the Isabelle McNeill Studentship in her honour.

Funding for the arts and humanities at postgraduate level continues to decline at an alarming rate. As a result, many talented applicants are unable to pursue their studies simply because they cannot secure the financial support required. Giving to the Isabelle McNeill MPhil Studentship in Film and Screen Studies will provide a talented postgraduate student with the opportunity to study at Cambridge. No student should be deterred from studying because of financial barriers, and each year, approximately half of the postgraduate applicants who receive an academic offer do not take up their place.

This award will provide essential support for a deserving postgraduate student in Film Studies, covering both course fees and maintenance. Your donation will help ensure that financial circumstances do not inhibit exceptional students from realising their academic potential.
