Collaborating to conserve biodiversity

The CCI is a collaborative partnership with a mission to transform the global understanding and conservation of biodiversity, securing a sustainable future for all life on Earth.

The world’s biodiversity urgently needs research-driven, innovative and practical solutions for its conservation… This is why the work of the Cambridge Conservation Initiative is so exceptional. The Initiative exists to devise these transformational approaches. It is an extraordinary marriage between outstanding practical conservationists and inspiring intellectual thinkers, which will shape the future of life on Earth.
Sir David Attenborough, CCI Patron

The Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI) is a partnership between the University of Cambridge and leading conservation organisations, working together to tackle the most urgent threats to life on Earth.

Founded in 2007, CCI brings scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and communities together at the David Attenborough Building, home to one of the world’s largest hubs of conservation expertise.

Together, CCI is building the knowledge, skills, and hope needed for a sustainable future.

Partners

Through global networks, local partnerships, and a strong focus on training, CCI supports effective, lasting conservation. Its work helps shape policy, restore ecosystems, protect species, and promote fair, inclusive approaches to nature recovery.
