Eashwar Krishnan on supporting PhD students from around the world
University volunteer and philanthropist Eashwar Krishnan’s (Trinity 1996) time at Cambridge was supported with a Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund scholarship. Today, he supports postgraduate students “trying to give back and replicate the structure of incredible generosity” shown to him.
Reflecting on the inspiration for his benefaction to Cambridge:
“Everybody wants their money to result in tangible, visible, incredible transformational outcomes. From our perspective, we want all those things. But we also want to engage with people that we like and trust and respect, and where every interaction results in us learning something new, either about the problem or about the efforts that are being made to address the problem. It’s a huge rush.”
Eashwar also volunteers his time and professional expertise to the University as a member of the fundraising campaign board as well as helping organise alumni events in Hong Kong, where he now lives.
