Karaite marriage deed, written on 3 March 1852 in Cairo, from the University of Cambridge’s Cairo Genizah collection.

For some time now, academics across Cambridge have been working to create a Centre for Jewish Studies here.

This initiative will transform teaching and research, enrich the intellectual life of the University, and advance cultural literacy globally.

It will ensure Jewish identity is firmly represented in our curriculum and offer all students the opportunity to engage deeply with Jewish history, culture, and thought.

This is a strategic, multi-stage plan backed by senior academics across the arts, humanities, and social sciences. But to make it a reality, we need visionary partners who share our belief in the power of education to shape a more tolerant and informed society. Philanthropic support for this initiative will not only create lasting institutional change, it will leave a legacy of understanding for generations to come.
