Each year we run a number of outreach initiatives and events for prospective students and to support our widening participation aims

The Faculty of Music does not exist in a vacuum—it is critical that we maintain strong links with the wider community in which we exist, in Cambridge and beyond. Our outreach and engagement work is vital, and one of our highest priorities for the coming years.

We wish to expand our academic outreach to strengthen connections with the wider research community and schools, drawing young people into the study of music. Additionally, we are enhancing our arts outreach to engage the general public, particularly through performances.

Our schools outreach programmes ensure that students interested in music are well-informed about Cambridge and the Tripos, with support available for their applications if needed. This work is vital to the Faculty, relying on students from diverse backgrounds choosing to study here. Beyond encouraging applications to Cambridge, our outreach also plays a crucial role in promoting music as an academic discipline at any higher education institution.

Support for these programmes would enable us to scale up activity, to demystify Cambridge for a new generation of potential students, and help us encourage the very best of them, wherever they are in the UK, to apply to us.

Support our outreach and public engagement work.
