Cambridge University Triathlon Club is one of the most successful, fastest-growing and inclusive sports clubs in Cambridge, and needs your help to keep up the good work. Founded in 2011, CUTriC has already helped hundreds of students to get involved in triathlon.

The Club also supports its members in winning national and international multi-sport races and is committed to making the sport accessible to all, regardless of gender and ability. CUTriC prides itself on its strong values: accessibility, tolerance, respect, gender equality, camaraderie, team spirit, and excellence.

Thanks to CUTriC, many students have achieved their lifetime goals by breaking free from their comfort zones and successfully completing a triathlon. The smile on their faces at the end of a long-distance race tells a thousand words. Whilst 50% of current members are beginners, CUTriC is equally dedicated to supporting elite performers with their training and racing.

The Club regularly fields sizeable teams at Varsity and BUCS races, taking home men’s team silver at BUCS Standard Triathlon 2021 and individual woman’s gold at BUCS Duathlon 2022. The Club offers daily training sessions in swimming, cycling, running, yoga and/or strength & conditioning, and provides wetsuits and racing bikes to members.

Because triathlon training and racing necessarily carry significant costs and logistics, the Club struggles to cover its expenses without increasing membership fees beyond the means of most students. Pool hire and transportation to races have significant fees, which pose difficulties for a young and dynamic club like CUTriC.

Generous donations from alumni, therefore, would help significantly in lowering the cost barrier to training and racing for many. In particular:

  • £10 would help a new member enter the Cuppers Duathlon Championships
  • £20 would subsidise a member’s swimming sessions for a term, allowing inexperienced triathletes to build their confidence in the pool
  • £50 would cover the entry fee for a member to compete in their first-ever triathlon
  • £150 would allow a member to purchase an aerodynamic tri-suit, bringing a significant competitive edge in our Varsity races against Oxford
  • £300 would pay for a new club racing bike, allowing another member to compete effectively who would otherwise be unable to do so
  • £500 would allow the club to upgrade our turbo trainers so members can continue to train through the winter — £1000 would pay for a team coach to BUCS or Varsity, ensuring that we can always field a strong team against other universities
  • The Senior Committee of the Club will handle any significant donations, and recurring direct debits can be used for distinct purposes if specified.
