Social Anthropology Ethnographic Film Collection
Ethnographic Film is an integral part of the Department of Social Anthropology’s teaching curriculum, and student-organised film showings are an especially popular ‘recreational’ event in the termly programming hosted by the Cambridge University Social Anthropology Society (CUSAS)
Through the long-term efforts of Emeritus Professor Alan Macfarlane, the Department holds a unique collection of recorded documentaries from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, which we have been able to supplement through very occasional, selective acquisition of newer films using limited general Department funds.
Please consider donating to our Social Anthropology Ethnographic Film Collection, through which we can expand the catalogue of high-quality films available for classroom and CUSAS use, also helping us to draw into anthropological inquiry students who are encountering the field for the first time, and strengthening our ability to communicate anthropology’s relevance to the most pressing issues of social life today.
