More than 50 students from backgrounds of educational disadvantage have been offered a place on the University of Cambridge’s first-ever pre-degree foundation year.
Ian Mason (Pembroke 1984), was CEO of Domestic & General (‘D&G’), the appliance care specialist, between 2016-2021. Ian very sadly died suddenly and unexpectedly in April, 2020. Friends and family, D&G and its employees as well as the private equity firm CVC and its philanthropic foundation have given generously in his honour.

The Foundation Year offers a new pathway to Cambridge for talented students whose circumstances would otherwise make this impossible. Foundation Year scholars will complete an innovative course that prepares them for an undergraduate degree.
